Bring the sights and sounds of the holidays to life with Philips
Plasma HDTV monitor widescreen FlatTVs
Make your television the centerpiece of your home this holiday
season with a Philips Electronics plasma monitor FlatTV™
HDTV. Displayed today at the 2003 CE Line Show/Holidays in June
event, Philips FlatTVs offer consumers an unparalleled holiday
viewing experience with 32-, 37-, 42- and 50-inch models. Philips’
plasma sets are now available with the new e-box (FTR9965), which
features its proprietary Pixel Plus™ technology. This technology
creates a picture with high definition-like characteristics from
any analog source, enabling consumers to enjoy the benefits of
near HDTV picture quality today, and be ready for HDTV programming
as it becomes available.
"At Philips, we know that consumers looking for a plasma
television want a set that will improve their existing home entertainment
experience, their home décor and their lifestyle. We have
designed our line of FlatTV monitors to provide the perfect FlatTV
solution,” said Des Power, general manager, television,
Philips Consumer Electronics, North America. “Our stylish
sets feature a thin profile that can easily be hung on a wall
like a piece of art. Even without high definition programming,
the addition of Pixel Plus technology provides consumers with
the HDTV-like picture characteristics from any source. Instead
of hanging tinsel, consumers can hang a 42-inch plasma by the
tree this year and enjoy the holidays in a whole new way."
Plasma and Pixel Plus Technology: Offering Consumers The Latest
In Television Viewing
Philips offers consumers the latest in plasma FlatTV technology
with models ranging from 32- to 50-inches. Less than four inches
deep with a 160-degree viewing angle and an anti-reflective screen,
these plasma televisions turn a typical image into a piece of
art. Philips’ new 37-inch plasma FlatTV systems round out
the award-winning lineup that includes the 32-, 42- and 50-inch
plasma models. The 37PF9954 features a display with 1024 x 1024
resolution
resulting in a sharp, dynamic picture. It will be available in
late 2003 and have a suggested retail price of $5,999.
The 42FD9934 and 50FD9955 plasma HDTV monitors incorporate plasma
technology with HD-component inputs and have an HD display with
1024 x 1024 and 768 x 1365 resolution, respectively. Sporting
a sophisticated speakerless design, the 42- and 50-inch plasma
sets feature a flat, slim and wide design that can be mounted
on a wall or placed upright using the optional arched tabletop
stand. Currently available, the 42FD9934 and 50FD9955 have a suggested
retail price of $5,999 and $11,999, respectively.
Capable of producing more than 16 million colors, Philips also
offers additional plasma FlatTVs: the 32FD9954 and 42FD9954. Featuring
an integrated sound system and a high-resolution screen viewable
from nearly any angle and under almost any lighting, these FlatTV
systems provide a unique entertainment solution anywhere in the
home. The 42-inch models display at 1024 x 1024 resolution and
the 32-inch offers 1024 x 852 resolution. The 32FD9954 and 42FD9954
are currently available and have a suggested retail price of $4,499
and $5,999, respectively.
When combined with the electronic box (e-box) the FTR9965, the
plasmas feature picture improvement enhancements such as Pixel
Plus, Digital Natural Motion, Digital Crystal Clear and Active
Control technology as well as 3D Y/C digital comb filter.
The Philips e-box, the size of a typical component box, provides
tuning functionality, superior video processing, video inputs
and other features. By connecting the e-box, consumers can utilize
the monitor's double window, two-tuner PIP to view two images
simultaneously on a split screen. Philips’ e-box also eliminates
the "spaghetti wire" syndrome, with all video connections
routed through the e-box, which can be placed inconspicuously
in the room with only a single wire running to the display. The
FTR9965 e-box is available this summer with a suggested retail
price of $1,299.
