Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America Introduces Second-Generation
Plasma Display Line-up
Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America Inc. today introduced
its second-generation line-up of plasma displays, featuring both
Enhanced-Definition (ED) and High-Definition displays.
In the Platinum Series of products, Mitsubishi introduced the
PD-4220 EDTV-Upgradeable and PD-5020 HDTV-Upgradeable plasma displays.
In the Diamond Series, the company announced the PD-4230, PD-5030
and PD-6130 HDTV-Upgradeable plasma displays. Scheduled for release
in early summer 2003, these displays transform into fully integrated
ED and HD televisions, with all the features and functions of
a one-piece EDTV/HDTV by adding the HD-5000 Digital Receiver-Controller
connected via the proprietary MonitorLink(TM) connection.
"Our plasma displays are stylish and elegant, and offer
the unique capability of being upgradeable to fully integrated
digital television functionality and performance," said Max
Wasinger, senior vice-president of sales and marketing.
"Consumers really want system solutions that can change
to meet their needs over time," he added.
This latest-generation technology uses Mitsubishi Electric’s
strategic resources on a global level. Mitsubishi Electric is
committed to lead the way in home-theatre displays regardless
of technology.
"As the home theatre market continues to grow, and new display
technologies begin to reach the maturity level for commercialization,
Mitsubishi intends to be the brand that consumers can trust"
said Robert A. Perry, vice-president, marketing.
"Recently, the flat-panel market has become a confusing
landscape of unknown brands, performance and quality. For almost
three decades, consumers have trusted in the performance, reliability
and commitment of Mitsubishi Electric. As consumers seek to adopt
these new technologies on a large scale, Mitsubishi will be there
with the right products."
